There is a nice guy in at Capt’n Gregg’s Dive Lodge taking his rescue and divemaster course. I got to help in his studies yesterday by being a “victim”.
We did an underwater panic diver, alternate air ascent, and then on surface panic diver…kind of fun, got to climb up on the student, etc.
If you have not gotten your rescue diver certification, it is definitely suggested. To me the training provided the “awareness” of those around me while diving. The open water and advanced open water I was much more concentrated on myself and my buddy. With the rescue I began to take notice of everyone in the group, how their equipment worked, looking for potential problems and correcting before the dive or before they become problems.
