Surfer Punches Shark

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to, yes, another edition of man punches shark and gets away. This is a quick story, but one that should fill surfers and divers out there with a sense of possibility: possibility that you could actually escape being eaten by a shark by fighting back. That's what happened to a young surfer named Brian Anderson who was riding waves near Tillamook Head in Oregon. He says he felt "something grab his leg" (which seems like a very light way to put it) on Saturday, and then he turned around found a shark chewing him. So he hit it in the eye. The punch stunned the shark since squid and fish and seals don't usually hit back. It swam away, leaving Anderson to nurse his wounds...a pleasing alternative to being inside the shark's stomach.
